Life Skills Online is a completely free educational programme from Aware which is delivered online.

With the help of a series of easy-to-follow modules and support from a trained Aware
volunteer, participants can learn how to manage feelings of stress, worry, anxiety or depression, and learn simple and practical skills to help them cope with life’s challenges.

The programme is comprised of eight modules, each covering a different topic, and the programme can help participants make a real difference in their lives.

Participants complete the modules online, in their own time, over eight consecutive weeks. The programme is self-directed – meaning participants can choose what module to try first and can skip backwards and forwards between modules and activities as they prefer.

Each Life Skills Online participant will also be partnered with a ‘supporter’, a trained Aware volunteer. The supporter provides encouragement and feedback if the participant chooses to share any of their module work with them.

Application for Level 2 Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) Facilitator Training: Dublin South Central Area.

    What is WRAP?

Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) is a 'self-management' tool used in many countries around the world to help individuals take more control over their own wellbeing and recovery. It emphasizes that people are the experts in their own experience and is based on the premise that there are no limits to recovery.

WRAP was developed in the United States by a group of people with mental health problems and has been successfully shared, both in the United States and internationally, by Mary Ellen Copeland and the Copeland Center for Wellness and Recovery.

    What makes up a WRAP?

WRAP offers a structured means by which people can maintain wellness and recovery while working to anticipate and reflect on crisis.

WRAP is underpinned by a number of core principles:

    • That recovery is possible (‘hope’).
    • That individuals should take personal responsibility for their own lives and well being (‘personal responsibility’).
    • That it is important to know yourself, to be self aware (‘education’).
    • That it is important to believe in and advocate for oneself (‘self advocacy’); and that the support of others is vital (‘support’).
Individuals work within these principles to create their own WRAP. Each plan should include the following components:
    • Wellness toolbox
    • Daily maintenance plan
    • Identification of triggers and associated action plan
    • Identification of early warning signs and associated action plan
    • Identification of signs that things are breaking down and associated action plan
    • Crisis planning
    • Post crisis planning
Supported by: HSE & Threshold Training Network

Structure of the Level 2 Facilitator training:

Facilitator training is delivered over five days and is provided by two advanced level facilitators, trained and accredited by the Copeland Centre for Wellness and Recovery.

    Location and dates:

The level 2 facilitator training will take place on the 18th, 19th, 22nd, 23rd and 24th of September 2014 in the Training & Development Centre, Cherry Orchard Hospital, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10. Times of attendance will be from 09:15am to 4:30pm for each training day.
