This year's Green Ribbon Campaign is well underway...have you got yours yet???

A message from See Change...

Let’s get talking about mental health this May. Support the Green Ribbon campaign.

See Change, the National Stigma Reduction Partnership has launched the fourth annual Green Ribbon Campaign, to promote open discussion of mental health during May 2016.

Throughout May, hundreds of local and national events will take place as part of the Green Ribbon national calendar.  This social movement to encourage a national conversation about mental health is led by 90 partner organisations, hundreds of volunteers and an unprecedented 70 campaign ambassadors with real-life experience of mental health problems ready to share their own stories to help others and end stigma.

Pick up your Green Ribbon at one of the various community events on the national Green Ribbon calendar and at major Irish Rail stations nationwide.

Take part in National Time to Talk Day on Friday May 20th by simply making the time and space for a conversation about mental health with family, friends and colleagues. Join the conversation online at #TimetoTalk

Here’s our top tip for starting that conversation: You don’t have to be an expert to start talking about mental health or have all the answers. Sometimes the most helpful thing you can do is to let someone know that you are there for them and simply listen.

We often hear that we need to talk more about mental health and the simple and free Green Ribbon provides a practical way of turning that into action. The 500,000 people who will be wearing Green Ribbons this May will not only be showing their support for the campaign but also leaving the door open for conversation. For someone who might be going through a tough time, just knowing that they don’t have to avoid the subject with you can make all the difference.

National Demonstration for Mental Health - Thursday, April, 28th, 2016.

Howdy folks,

The message below this one came from Dr. Shari McDaid, Director of Mental Health Reform.

Did you know that our government is planning to divert €12 Million in funding away from the Mental Health budget???

Having worked for just over a year in Gateway, I know that we’re  not going to take that lying down!!!!

Drop-in tomorrow will be open, but will be operating on a skeleton crew because the rest of the team will be at the protest – would you like to join them?

This protest will take place Tomorrow, Thursday 28th April  from 12:30pm outside the Kildare Street entrance to Dáil Eireann. Volunteers are also needed from 12 noon to help prepare placards etc.

Please let us know if you would like to join us!

Let’s make our voices heard! Loud and proud! This is not OK!

You have probably heard reports that €12 million is being diverted from the mental health budget to other areas of the health service. This is NOT OK. We need to send a strong message that mental health must be a priority for the next government.  Join the Union of Students in Ireland and Mental Health Reform for a demonstration on Thursday April 28th at 12.30pm, outside Dáil Eireann (Kildare Street Entrance), in Dublin. If you can't make it to Kildare St, you can still gather locally to show your support and share your event photos on social media. Take a selfie or organise a group photo with your colleagues, friends, fellow students etc. Make sure to use the hashtag #IAmAReason in your post. Smashing Times Theatre - Free Performance

These performances are all adapted from the experiences of those who have experienced a mental health problem and will be followed by a panel discussion.
